About Loretta Foyle
My art is inspired by the beauty found in nature. My paintings express the frame of mind one gets while walking along a path or river, or small preserved natural places, such as parks, bike paths or simply driving. I work 'en plein air' as well as in my studio. I prefer the term outdoor painter. Being an outdoor painter is both inspiring and challenging as the light and colors change quickly. I have chosen pastels as my main medium because of the vibrant colors and the rich marks of pure pigment they make on the surface. I use layers of colors and marks to explore nature's beauty and peacefulness.
